Hanging your print

Canvas, Canvas Float and Acrylic prints arrive ready to hang. Here's how to put yours up, or get someone to do it for you.

Before you start

  • Pick a spot out of direct sunlight and at least 1.5 m from heaters and fireplaces.
  • Hang it with the centre of the print at about eye level, around 150 cm from the floor. Above a sofa or sideboard, leave 15 to 25 cm between the furniture and the bottom of the print.
  • Use wall fixings rated for the weight of the print and suited to your wall: plasterboard, timber stud or masonry.
  • Large prints, and acrylics in particular, are heavier than they look. Get a second pair of hands.

What's on the back

  • Acrylic: a hidden frame holds the print about 2 cm off the wall, with a hanging cord fixed in place.
  • Canvas and Canvas Float: the hanging fittings are already on the back.
  • Fine Art Paper: arrives rolled and unframed, ready for your framer. Unroll it on a clean, flat surface and let it relax for a day or two. Ask your framer for UV-protective glazing and acid-free mat board.
