Collector Stories: Wanda Wonder in Nelson Bay
Share
This month we sent every early Kess Gallery collector a numbered certificate of authenticity for their print, and asked them a simple question: what drew you to it, and where does it hang?
Beverley's reply was one of the first to come back.
A print with a story before it even left
In January 2020, as the bushfires burned across New South Wales, we put prints up for a charity auction to raise funds for the NSW Rural Fire Service. Wanda Wonder was one of them. Beverley won it.
“I had just bought in Nelson Bay and had a specific spot that I wanted an ocean print, and yours spoke to me when I saw it.”

Nearly seven years on, there it is: above a driftwood console at the top of the stairs, a long way up the coast from the beach it shows.
Then and now
Here's the same print with me on our back deck in January 2020, just before it went to its new home.

Wanda Wonder is an aerial of the shore break at Wanda Beach in Cronulla: the gold of the sand running into the white water and the turquoise beyond. Seeing it on a wall in Nelson Bay, chosen for one particular spot, is exactly why we do this.
Thank you, Beverley, for the photo and for letting us share your story.

If you own a Kess Gallery print, we'd love to see where it hangs. Reply to your certificate email or get in touch, and tell us what drew you to it. We only ever share a story with your permission, and with your first name only.
